history
Al Ahli is the oldest club in Qatar. It was founded in 1950 under the name of Al Najah. However, this was changed a few years later to Al Ahli to represent the geographic area of the club.
The side is nicknamed The Brigadiers, a nod to their status and prestige as the oldest club in Qatar. The team has a rich heritage and history as well as a strong fan base.
In the 1984-85 season, the club got its new headquarters, the first club to receive modern facilities, in recognition of its status as the country’s first club.

Biscan had a distinguished career as a player with a number of major clubs, including Liverpool with whom he won six titles, most notably the 2004-2005 Champions League and 2001-2002 European Super Cup. He has also represented Croatia’s Dinamo Zagreb and Greek team Panathinaikos.
Moving on, Biscan coached his country’s Under-20 and Olympic teams, and was in charge of Slovenian club Olympia Ljubljana and Saudi Arabia’s Al Shabab.
