Will Al Sadd put it across Al Ahli and be crowned the 2018-19 season QNB Stars League champions? That’s the question doing the rounds ahead of their clash in Week 21 of the QNB Stars League on Thursday, 4th April. The kick-off is at 18:10 at the Al Sadd Stadium.

Al Sadd will be crowned in front of their home fans if they beat Al Ahli no matter the result of second-placed Al Duhail as victory will give The Wolves an unassailable lead with only one round to be played.

Al Sadd missed out on their record-extending 14th league title when they were held to a 2-2 draw by hosts Al Duhail last week.

Al Sadd have 51 points, four more than Al Duhail. They have the most number of wins (16) and the best goal difference (68, 87 goals for and 19 against).

Portuguese Jesualdo Ferreira’s men also have the best attack among all 12 teams, as proved by the statistics. Second-placed Al Duhail have scored 49 goals.

Al Sadd drew three matches and lost only one. Incidentally, their only defeat was against Al Ahli (1-4) in the first leg. So they will be wary of The Brigadiers.

Al Ahli also have much at stake in the match as they are level on 33 points with fourth-placed Al Rayyan. Spaniard Ruben de la Barrera’s wards have 10 wins, three draws and seven defeats against their name. Their goal difference is -2 (29 goals for and 31 against).

The outcome will largely depend on how best the Al Ahli defence tackles the likes of Baghdad Bounedjah and Akram Afif.
