Al Wakrah, founded in 1959, are one of the oldest clubs in Qatar. They are located in the city of Al Wakrah in the south of Qatar.
The club’s logo is a mixture of light blue and white colours, and is the main reason they have been given the nickname of The Blue Waves.
The Saoud bin Abdulrahman Stadium is their home ground.

Spaniard Vicente Moreno has taken over as coach of Al Wakrah, succeeding Swedish coach Poya Esbaghi.
Moreno’s appointment will be for two seasons, starting with the new 2025-2026 season, according to the club's announcement.
Moreno has a distinguished coaching career, having coached several strong clubs until the end of his tenure with Osasuna in May 2025. He also has experience in the Gulf region, having coached Al Shabab in Saudi Arabia. He has also previously coached Real Mallorca, Gimnastic, and Xerez in Spain.
The Spaniard began his coaching career with the youth teams of Valencia in July 1995, and later moved to Guadix, Xerez, and Real Mallorca.
Al Wakrah are counting heavily on coach Moreno to ensure the team delivers outstanding performances and results starting with the new 2025-2026 season.
