Al Wakrah, founded in 1959, are one of the oldest clubs in Qatar. They are located in the city of Al Wakrah in the south of Qatar.
The club’s logo is a mixture of light blue and white colours, and is the main reason they have been given the nickname of The Blue Waves.
The Saoud bin Abdulrahman Stadium is their home ground.

Chilean coach Jose Luis Sierra, who took over the reins of Al Wakrah from Spaniard Vicente Moreno, is a distinguished and experienced coach on whom The Blue Wave are placing high hopes in the upcoming phase.
Sierra began his coaching career in 2010 with Chilean club Union Espanola until 2015 followed by a one-season stint with another Chilean side Colo-Colo.
In his first experience in the Gulf region, he took charge of Saudi Arabian club Al Ittihad in 2016. He also coached the UAE’s Shabab Al Ahli before returning to Al Ittihad.
He had stints with Al Tai in 2021-2022 season and Al Wahda in 2025, both in Saudi Arabia.
