Al Ahli coach Borja Jimenez spoke to the media ahead of their 2026-2027 season Doha Bank Stars League Week 7 match against Al Gharafa.
“The team aims to improve its performance following the recent defeat to Al Wakrah, a result that has hindered our ambitions. The team must learn from that loss and elevate the players’ performance ahead of the clash with Al Gharafa.
“Al Gharafa remain a strong and distinguished side, regardless of their results in the previous two rounds. Our team must remain highly focused on winning and securing all three points.
“We committed several errors in the last match against Al Wakrah, which ultimately cost us the game. We have been working to rectify these issues during recent training sessions, with the goal of winning and regaining our footing in the competition.
“The upcoming match is one where ‘no mistakes are permitted’. Our opponents are a strong side and overcoming them will require a high level of concentration and quality of play,” said Borja Jimenez.
Al Ahli goalkeeper Mohammed Lingliz said, “The match against Al Gharafa will not be easy, but I hope that it would serve as a turning point for the team moving forward.
“The players are well aware of the reasons behind our defeat in the previous round and are focused on learning from those mistakes to ensure they are not repeated against Al Gharafa.”
