Al Gharafa coach Pedro Martins and player Amro Surag spoke to the media ahead of their Qatar Cup 2026 semifinal against Al Sadd.

“We are eager to give off our best against Al Sadd. Our objective is to secure a victory and reach the final. It will be a fantastic and extremely important match. The tournament features four teams and each one is fighting to reach the final and win the title. All teams have the necessary experience to handle such encounters.

“Our players will fight to win. We have a group of players we will try to utilize to the fullest extent possible and we hope to resolve some issues regarding the squad list so we can benefit from the remaining players.

“I am satisfied with the current squad but am looking forward to having more options and solutions in the upcoming stage. A full squad will make the team even stronger.

“We are well aware of Al Sadd’s strengths, but Al Gharafa are always among the favorites to compete. We have the experience and the ambition, and everyone will do their utmost to achieve victory.

“He (Frank Magri) is a distinguished player who has made a strong start with the team. Several young players have also proved themselves, including Ayoub and Rayyan Al Ali.

“We have young players who have become important members of the team, and these talents are very beneficial, but they need more experience and maturity. We will continue working to develop them and make the best use of them,” said Martins.

Al Gharafa player Amro Suraj said, “The match against Al Sadd will be tough and exciting. Qatar Cup matches are different in nature from league matches.

“The match has a special character. Al Sadd are a great team with outstanding players, but we will put the league behind us and focus entirely on this match. We hope to be at our best and achieve victory to qualify for the final.

“Cup matches are always different and do not allow for many mistakes. Perhaps Al Sadd are considered as favorites after winning their first two league matches, but we will fight hard for our chances. I have big confidence in my teammates, Al Gharafa’s ambitions extend beyond any single championship.

“I have great faith in all my teammates. We will not make any promises before the match, but we aim to compete for the league title and all other trophies. We will give our all to bring joy to our fans and win titles.”
