Al Gharafa coach Pedro Martins spoke to the media ahead of their 2025-2026 season Doha Bank Stars League Week 2 match against Al Arabi.
“We did not perform as we should in the first half against Umm Salal. We made many mistakes that gave our opponents the opportunity to launch dangerous counterattacks, and we know they excel at this style. But after the second goal, our players showed their true spirit and succeeded in turning the match in our favour.
“Al Arabi have distinguished players, especially in the attacking line. They caused Al Wakrah a lot of trouble in the first round and I believe our match against them will be more difficult than against Umm Salal. The match will be open due to both teams’ attacking style and I am confident that it will provide a strong and entertaining performance for the fans.
“The only absentee is (Florinel) Koeman due to injury. I call on Al Gharafa’s loyal fans to attend and support the team,” said Martins.
Al Gharafa player Alvaro Djalo said, “The match against Al Arabi will be more difficult and we must exert more efforts, especially since preparations are progressing well. I promise our fans that we will give off our best. Everyone is working for the good of Al Gharafa.”
