Umm Salal and Qatar U-23 National Team played out a challenging 1-1 draw in their opening week of Jetour League at the Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium on Tuesday.

Umm Salal had moved up into the lead early in the 19th minute when an on-the-move Waleed El Bahnasawi broke through from the left to fire past a diving goalkeeper.

Qatar U-23 levelled terms in the 37th minute with Nawaf Al Yahri striking into the left corner after being nicely set up with an assist from Mohamed Faragalla at the top of the box.

Both teams battled hard in the second half, but failed to break the deadlock.

In the 55th minute, Umm Salal’s Ibrahim Kalla tried to cut across an advancing Qatar U-23 goalkeeper Abubaker Yahia but he dived to his left to push the ball away to safety.

Later Abulla Al Otaibi of Qatar U-23 found himself in a similar situation but he shot wide.

Towards the end of stoppage time, Othman Al Yahri of Umm Salal found the net but he was found offside and the flag went up.

Mohamed Faragalla of Qatar U-23 was adjudged Player of the Match.
