Al Waab defeated Al Rayyan NextGen 1-0 in the concluding game of 2026-2027 season Jetour League Week 1 at the Al Bayt Stadium on Tuesday.

Mohammed Saeed scored the only goal of the match in the 14th minute, heading home from a well-delivered free-kick to give Al Waab an early lead.

Al Waab were reduced to 10 men in the 50th minute after Majid Janan was shown a red card for bringing down goal-bound Moustafa Elsayed Assr.

Al Rayyan made use of their numerical advantage and piled pressure on Al Waab in search of an equaliser. Jassem Al Sharshani came agonisingly close in the 81st minute when his powerful long-range effort rattled the crossbar.

The “younger” Lions continued to push forward in the closing stages, launching wave after wave of attacks, but Al Waab remained resolute in defence to preserve their slender advantage and secure a vital victory.
