Al Duhail defeated Al Wakrah 2-0 in the opening match of 2025-2026 season Doha Bank Stars League at the Saoud Bin Abdulrahman Stadium of Al Wakrah club on Thursday.

After a goalless first half, Adil Boulbina, who was making a return to the team after his AFCON campaign in Morocco, stood up gallantly to convert from the spot in the 64th minute after being brought down in the penalty box by Al Wakrah’s Mohammed Aiash a minute earlier.

The goal brought out the best in the hosts and The Blue Wave continued to make several incursions into Al Duhail’s half of the field but for all their efforts, it was The Red Knights who doubled their lead in the 83rd minute through Marco Verratti, who connected perfectly with a Youssouf Sabaly’s cross to perfectly slot home the goal.

The result moved Al Duhail to 19 points in the standings, while Al Wakrah’s 16 points remained unchanged.
