Check out how some of them fared below:#
Lekhwiya
Lekhwiya winger Vladimir Weiss and his fellow countrymen had to resign themselves to a tetchy 1-0 loss at home against Belarus. The Slovaks have a great chance to qualify for their first ever EURO Championship but instead found themselves denied by the Belarussian who were down to ten men by the end of the match. Weiss was a threat and came close but had a frustrating night, picking up a yellow card in addition.
Lekhwiya’s number ten, Nam Tae-Hee was also on national duty. The Red Knights front man has featured strongly in the South Korean national team since the arrival of Uli Stielike from the Qatar Stars League. The Taeguk Warriors posted a no nonsense 1-0 victory in Kuwait on Thursday as they look to qualify for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
Yousef Msakni who has been in blistering form for Lekhwiya up front was involved in a friendly against Gabon. Tunisia was held by Gabon in a 3-3 goal fest. Lekhwiya will be happy to know that Msakni came away from the match injury free and will be ready for their QSL Round 5 clash against Al Arabi.
Al Kharaitiyat
Hassan Abdel-Fattah, the Thunder’s top scorer last season was in action against Australia on Friday. Jordan shocked Australia 2-0 to go top of Group B. The Socceroos dominated the first half but failed to breach the Jordan defence. Hassan Abdel-Fattah struck from the penalty spot which was then followed by a second by Hamza al-Daradreh. Kharaitiyat fans will be hoping Fattah continues scoring when his side face Al Ahli away in Round 5 of the QSL.
Umm Salal
Umm Salal’s Andranik Timotian captained his side against Oman in the 2018 World Cup Qualifiers away. However they fell behind in the 52nd minute and had to fight back to secure a point through Jalal Hosseini in the 70th minute.
Al Sailiya
Sailiya defender Dragoș Grigore also had an eventful night as Romania foiled Finland with a late goal in a 1-1 encounter. Romania had more of the attacking momentum and had 9 shots on target to Finland’s 7. Grigore will be in action with Sailiya this Saturday as his side takes on Al Wakrah.
Al Rayyan
Al Rayyan’s new signing Victor Caceres came on in the second half as Paraguay secured a vital win over Venezuela 1-0 with a goal from Derlis Gonzalez in the 84th minute.
