Lekhwiya Head Coach Djamel Belmadi said that he was satisfied with the team’s performance in today's match against Turkish side Bursaspor despite the 3-1 loss.  He said that the team played a competitive friendly which was insightful as it gave him an idea about the team’s readiness ahead of the new season.

Belmadi said in a statement to the club’s website, "It was a tough match against a strong team, they are one of the best teams in Turkey, and they have reached the final stages of their preparation for the Turkish league which will begin in a few days.  We are in the middle of our preparations and we have many absences, this is an important difference.”

He added," We have reached a critical stage in our preparations; we began in Doha and continued in Turkey. We played friendly matches against Besiktas (B) and today against Bursaspor, and we chose difficult opponents so that we could test ourselves and gauge our progression before the new QSL season starts.”

Belmadi then said that the QSL champions will leave Turkey and head for the city of Malaga in Spain where they will face Spanish side Malaga F.C.

Belmadi concluded by saying, “The down side to our time in Turkey is that we have had a few injuries to key players. Chico Flores, Vladimir Weiss and Karim Boudiaf have all sustained injuries and I hope they will return soon to the team.”
