El Jaish welcomed visitors Al Khor to the Abdullah Bin Khalifa stadium tonight in what turned out to a frustrating night for the home side who have so far failed to have a convincing start to their season.

At the pre-match press conference Jaish Head Coach Sabri Lamouchi said that despite the poor start, his side possessed a good atmosphere within the group. He also noted that Al Khor would perhaps be more motivated after losing their first two games of the season.

““Our aim is to have a positive performance against Al Khor in Round 3 of the QSL and win the game. Al Khor is a very good team and will be motivated to come back after two losses.”
His insight was close to the mark as Al Khor looked more organised and focused, especially in the first half they were keen to not lose the Round 3 fixture.

Jean Fernandez’s men stuck to their game plan and despite the lack of possession, managed to eke out a vital first point for themselves.

In the first half Al Khor managed just two shots on goal, both coming from way outside the box, by Madison and Antonio respectively. Whilst Jaish peppered the goal with 5 shots on target and really should have been in the lead at half time.

In the second half El Jaish’s dominance became more pronounced as they gained more of the possession but the game lacked the creative spark needed to unlock the defence as both teams could only managed two shots on target in the second half.

Certainly this was not a game that will stick in the memory. Al Khor will be the happier of the two as they go into Round 4.
