A number of players from the Al Gharafa team spoke to QSL Online on the Media Day. They expressed their optimism about The Cheetahs’ ability to perform well in the 2018-19 season and that they would achieve many positive results.

We can be highly successful this season: Fahd A Shammari

“We’re optimistic that this season will be very good for Al Gharafa. After losing in the first week, we corrected our mistakes and won in the second week. We’ve great confidence that we can be highly successful this time. Everyone, right from the board of directors to the technical staff and players, is working hard towards that goal.”

I wish the team all the very best: Vladimir Weiss

“We’ll try to offer a good level of quality in all QNB Stars League matches. We’ve great hopes of finishing the league in a strong position. I missed many matches last season due to an injury and will now work hard with team-mates to win all the upcoming matches.

I hope we’ll have a good season: Mehdi Taremi

“I hope we’ll have a good season. Better than last year. The team has improved with the addition of new players. The Qatari players are also performing well.

“Vladimir Weiss’ comeback has really strengthened the side. We started with a loss, but bounced back with a win. I want to score many goals this season.”

We want to reach as high a position as possible: Wesley Sneijder

“The QNB Stars League has improved a lot with many new players in action. The competition has more quality and obviously it’s tough. We want to attain as high a position as possible.

“We want to be among the top four like last season, maybe we can finish third. We’ve to give everything for that. Personally, I want to keep scoring goals and contribute to some good wins.”
