
With the 2016/2017 season coming to an end, QSL online has decided to look back on the definitive moments that shaped the campaign. Today, we are looking back on the QSL players of the month over the course of the season.
Lekhwiya’s South Korean midfielder Nam Tae Hee was the first player to pick up the best player award, which covered the opening games of the season over the months of September & October. The diminutive number 10 grabbed five goals and contributed 3 assists for his side, including a stunning last-gasp winner to defeat Al Gharafa 5-4. A performance rating of 94.4 duly gave Nam the award.

Moving into November and it was El Jaish’s Brazilian attacker Romarinho who claimed the best player of the month award. The soldiers were flying high in the league, and the former Corinthians striker contributed four goals and an assist for his side, pushing El Jaish into the title race. Romarinho was inspired leading the line for his side, and a performance rating of 91.9 gave the Brazilian attacker the coveted award.

Spanish midfielder Xavi scooped the player of the month award for December, for his key performances in midfield for his Al Sadd side. Xavi delivered in all five of Al Sadd’s matches over the course of December, scoring three goals and registering five assists for the Wolves. Al Sadd stormed to the top of the standings in Decemeber with Xavi ever present for his side in the center of the park.

A new year meant a new player of the month, and Al Rayyan’s Spanish attacker Sergio Garcia won the award for January. The former Spanish international reigned supreme in the first month of the year, scoring three goals and registering two assists in five QSL games. A performance rating of 91.6 ensured he picked up the award.

February and March saw a second Al Rayyan player pick up the best player award. This time it was the time of club captain Rodrogo Tabata. The Qatari international scored six goals and supplied assists for his side on four occasions, notching up a performance rating of 94.2 to claim the player of the award.

The final player of the month award for April went again to Al Sadd’s midfield maestro Xavi. Sadd’s number six scored one goal and provided two assists from the final three games of the season. An impressive 94.4 performance rating sealed a second player of the month for the Spaniard.
