Sneijder is top scorer as Al Gharafa conclude training camp

Al Gharafa's Dutch star emerged as the top scorer at a Friendly Tournament in Oman where the Qatari club has concluded a pre-season training camp. QNB Stars League title hopefuls Al Gharafa reached the final of the Friendly Tournament as Sneijder scored three goals in two matches.On Wednesday, Al Gharafa lost to Tunisia's CS Sfaxien 3-1 in the final after crushing Oman's Al Nasr in the event's opening game. It was a positive outing for Al Gharafa against one of the top African teams. Egypt's FC Ismaily was the fourth team in the tournament where Al Gharafa took part to test its match fitness ahead of the start of the new QNB Stars League season. On Wednesday, Al Gharafa's only goal was scored by Sneijder in the 65th minute. Sneijder was also on target for Al Gharafa in their opening match when he managed a brace. The Dutchman was crowned as the Tournament's Top Scorer with three strikes. Al Gharafa started the match with Qassem Burhan, Osman El-Elihri, El-Mahdi Ali, Diego Amado, Youssef Muftah, Amr Sirag, Abdel-Aziz Hatem, Khaled Abdel Rauf, Wesley Sneijder, Ahmed Ala and Mehdi Tarmi. French coach Christian Gourcuff rested Vladimir Weiss, Youssef Hassan and Saeed Al Haj due to slight niggles. In the first half, Al Gharafa produced a number of attacks and came close to scoring also. Al Gharafa's best chance at scoring was in the 41st minute Mahdi Tarmi missed an easy chance. In the second half, the Al Gharafa coach made several changes as he played Monkaz Uday, Mohammed Ismail and Tamim Muhaysa instead of Amr Abdul Siraj, Mahdi Ali and Ahmad Ola. After numerous attacking moves, Sneijder produced his third goal of the tournament in the second half. Al Gharafa will return to Doha on Thursday and resume their preparations for the new season.
