<p>Hosts Al Khor rode on a late strike by defender Soroush Hossein to edge past a resolute Al Sailiya in Week 9 of the QNB Stars League on Friday.</p><p>Hossein struck the only goal in the 84th minute. It was Al Khor’s third win of the season and their second in a row. For Al Sailiya, it was their first loss in the last four matches. </p><p>Al Sailiya managed to earn a couple of corners in the first 10 minutes, but hosts Al Khor, despite facing repeated attacks, held firm to keep the visitors in check. </p><p>In the first 20 minutes, Al Sailiya impressed with 62 per cent of ball possession as the hosts remained under constant threat from the visitors. </p><p>In the 34th minute, unmarked Temurkhuja Abdukholiqov missed the easiest of headers from just a few feet away from the Al Khor goal following a cross by Salem Al Ali. The Uzbek forward amateurishly misjudged the flight of the ball and went underneath the shot for the deflection that did not take place.</p><p>Eleven minutes into the second half, Helal Mohammed of Al Khor charged into the rival box, but his shot from close was blocked by goalkeeper Abdarrahman Aziz.</p><p>Al Khor’s Reza Najafi failed to connect an indirect free-kick from outside the Al Sailiya box in the 78th minute and the game headed for a draw.</p><p>It was then that Hossein, following a short cross, fired home as Al Khor celebrated the late strike in style.</p>
