Al Rayyan defeated Al Wakrah 2-1 in Week 2 of 2026-2027 season Doha Bank Stars League at the Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium of Al Sadd club on Thursday.

Roger Guedes opened the scoring for The Lions just before half-time, nodding home a precise cross from Gabriel Pereira.

Early in the second half, Omar Al Osad nearly restored parity for Al Wakrah in the 48th minute, but his right-footed attempt from outside the box sailed just over the bar.

The Blue Wave finally equalised in the 73rd minute when Amine Zouhzouh capitalised on a poor clearance by goalkeeper Mahmoud Abunada, deftly lobbing the ball into the net.

Deep into stoppage time, Ahmed Alaaeldin struck the decisive winner for Al Rayyan on the stroke of full time. 

The late goal ensured that coach Vicente Moreno’s side maintained their perfect start to the season, securing all three points in a hard-fought contest.
