Many quality players have joined Al Rayyan this season as well. Moroccan midfielder Mohsine Moutaouali, who switched to The Lions from Al Wakrah, is one among them.

Coach Michael Laudrup did not start him in most of the league games so far. Instead, he was wisely substituted in the second half. And Mohsine will have a key role to play when they face Al Arabi in their QNB Stars League Round 8 match on 19th November.

Mohsine spoke to QSL Online in an exclusive interview. Excerpts:

How do you assess Al Rayyan’s league campaign so far?

We’ve been making steady progress and the title race this season will be between Al Rayyan, Al Sadd and Al Duhail.

Can the team sustain the momentum as the league progresses?

Of course, we can. We’ve the ability to move on with the same strength right till the end of competition.

Are Al Rayyan capable of regaining the QNB Stars League title?

Yes. But we’ll face fierce competition from Al Sadd and Al Duhail. The team making least mistakes will win the title.

Do you have any worries as a team player?

I wasn’t lucky in some games. Then, I’m worried about getting injuries.

Will the stoppage of the league affect your performance in Round 8?

I don’t believe it’ll have a negative impact as we played in the QSL Cup and qualified for the semifinals.

How do you see the match against Al Arabi?

Indeed, it’ll be a tough one, between two big names with large fan base in Qatar football.

Who’re the favourites to win?

Of course, Al Rayyan.

Who do you think is the most prominent player in Al Arabi?

All of them are good players.

Will the recent negative results of Al Arabi make your job easier?

No. This is a derby and there’s no easy game in the QNB Stars League. Each match has its own specialities.

What’s your ambition with Al Rayyan?

Winning trophies. I’m happy to be a part of such a big team.

Are you frustrated for not being a regular starter?

I can’t say that… I’m a professional player and I wait patiently for my opportunity to play in order to serve Al Rayyan.

Finally, what would you like to tell Al Rayyan fans?

I wish to see a lot of them at this match, like how they supported us in the ‘Qatar Clasico’ against Al Sadd.
