The second-week action of the Sixth Workers’ Cup, held on Friday (9th February, saw a whopping 108 goals being scored across 16 matches, as against 78 in the opening week. As expected, many thrilling contests were fought by the teams.
A total of 32 teams, four each in eight groups, are competing in the annual football tournament, organised by the Qatar Stars League and sponsored by the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy. Over 640 players are participating in the tournament, which kicked off at the Al Duhail Stadium on Friday, 2nd February.
Matches in Groups A, B, C and D were played at Al Duhail and those in Groups E, F, G and H at Al Sadd.
Defending champions Nakheel kept winning in Group H, this time beating Youth Club 9-0. Mohammed Braik scored four goals and delivered as many assists, while Imad Khatrat and Jaques Daniel contributed a brace each. They led 4-0 at half-time.
In the other match in same group, NAAAS were held 1-1 by Bouygues.
Galfar defeated Pigeon Engineering 20-0 in Group D to record the biggest victory margin in the week. Yogedra Magar, Abdulkadir, Roshan Ibrahim and Rakesh all contributed four goals each.

ALYSJ blanked Trags Engineering 4-0 in the other Group D action.
Mowasalat defeating Schindler 20-1 in Group G was the next biggest margin. It was Mowasalat’s first victory. Tajudeen, Mensah, Belson, Ahmed and Peter all made merry as the winners started scoring in the very first minute of the match.
Al Asmakh too recorded a big win, 12-0 over Trags Trading in the group.
In Group A, Shapoorji Pallonji got the better of Aktor 2-0 and Gulf Contracting routed BOTC 6-0.
Group B action saw Taleb Group trouncing QDVC 8-0 and Boom losing to Spartan Ready Mix 0-5.
Group C witnessed victories in contrasting style. While L&T Qatar had it easy against Cofley Besix Mannai 5-0, Doha Pest Control sweated before beating Galfar Al Misnad 1-0.
In Group E, G4S Qatar beat AG Middle East 4-1, while Al Balagh L&T JV and Black Cat played out a goalless draw.
Group F saw AALCO prevailing over DicoTech Qatar 7-0 and Medgulf scored a narrow 1-0 win over HBK.
Matches are played on Fridays and the final is scheduled for 23rd March. Entry is free for the public.
