The Level A Match Analysis Course, being organised by the Qatar Stars League’s (QSL) Football Development Department in association with eminent Portuguese coach Prof Jorge Castelo and Videobserver match analysis consultancy company, received an overwhelming response.
The four-day course, which will conclude on 6th December, attracted 35 attendees from various spheres of the game. Its main objective is to spread awareness among all stakeholders, be it coaches, players, administrators or mediapersons, about the importance of analysing matches in the new era.
Sessions are being held at the Movenpick West Bay hotel in Doha from 08:00 to 13:00. The first two days focused on the theoretical side of topics and the last two days’ attention is on practicals.
The main topics covered are tactical formations, game’s phases, offensive and defensive methods as well as creation of match analysis reports.
The participants include Al Khor coach Nassif Al Bayawi, Al Sadd’s Under-23 coach Hichame Zahid, and former Qatar internationals Majdi Siddiq, Syed Bechir and Mirghani Al Zain.
Videobserver is represented at the course by its founder Andre Rocha.
Chief course instructor Castelo said, “Our main aim is to analyse the logic of football in a better way. We’re introducing a new training methodology to optimise the capacity of teams, coaches, players, administrators and the like to analyse matches more effectively. We’re using different instruments to achieve that goal.”
QSL’s Head of Football Development Miguel Heitor echoed his views.
“Football is now more about technology. The scientific aspects of the game have evolved with time and more needs to be understood in terms of tactical, technical, physical and psychological sides. Education is the key to success and practice makes it perfect. So we’ve tied up with companies, such as Videobserver, with an aim to bring knowledge and expertise from external markets, like Europe, to Qatar,” said Heitor.
A Level B Advanced Match Analysis Course is also on way. It is tentatively scheduled in April next year in Doha.
