Exciting battles involving six teams were witnessed on day one of the QSL Cup on Tuesday. The teams Al Duhail, Qatar SC, Al Gharafa, Al Khor, Al Kharaitiyat and Al Sailiyah made the most of the opportunity to test their young players at the top level.
Al-Duhail met with Qatar SC at Al Gharafa Stadium, Al Gharafa took on Al Khor at Al Duhail Stadium while Al Kharaitiyat faced Al Sailiyah at Al Wakrah Stadium.
Results of the first round matches of Group A:
Al-Duhail 2 - 5 Qatar SC
Fahad Khalfan on Tuesday struck a dream hat-trick as Qatar SC beat Al Duhail 5-2 at Al Gharafa Stadium.
Abdulhrahman Mohamed opened the scoring for Al Duhail but Said Ali Muhannadi managed to equalise for Qatar SC a few minutes later. Salman Zayed doubled the lead for Al Duhail seconds before the end of the first half.
However, Fahad Khalfan emerged as the hero for his team while Bruno Gallo penalty secured the win with the fifth goal at Al Gharafa Stadium.
In the second half, Qatar SC continued their impressive first half form and sealed a remarkable comeback win.
Al Gharafa 2 - 1 Al Khor
In the second game on Tuesday, Al-Gharafa edged past Al-Khor 2-1 at Al Duhail Stadium.
Abdulrahman Mohsen put Al Khor ahead in the 6th minute through a penalty kick.
However, Al Gharafa produced attacking football to first equalise through Louis Jimenez and followed with a winner by Hilal Mohammed in the 58th minute.
Al Khor ended the first half with a narrow 1-0 lead however that form didn’t continue in the second half and Al Gharafa managed to win all three points by scoring two goals early into the second half.
Al Kharaitiyat 3 - 1 Al Sailiya
In the third match on Tuesday, Al-Kharaitiyat got the better of Al Sailiya and won their entertaining encounter 3-1 at Al Wakrah Stadium.
Al Kharaitiyat's Abdullah Al Enazi scored the opening goal with great individual footwork before scoring in the 4th minute.
Al Sailiya's Mohammed Mdther equalized in the 18th minute after a cross from Abdullah Al-Faihani from the left flank.
However, Al-Kharaitiyat had to wait until the 81st minute to double their score when by Abdullah Al-Anzi fired one home after a cross from Abdul Karim Ateeq. Al-Anzi completed Al Kharaitiyat's winning display by scoring again in the 83rd minute.
Overall it was a great first day of the QSL Cup with plenty of goals, some shocking results and some great youngsters got the chance to play first team football, can Group B produce similar results tomorrow.
