Kings looking to leapfrog rivals in relegation clash.

Qatar Sports Club has produced a commendable turnaround since the QSL restarted after the break. In the five matches they have played since, they have not lost a single match, and more crucially, have registered three consecutive victories.

Qatar SC are still in 13th place in the standings, just in the relegation zone, however the gap between them and Al Kharaitiyat in 12th place is just one point. The Kings will now they will take on Al Khor who are just two points ahead of them in 11th place.

This is a direct battle to stave off relegation and Qatar SC Head Coach Sebastiao Lazaroni hopes his team can continue to show the fight they have shown in the recent matches and finally get themselves out of the drop zone.  “We have to continue to do the same. We have to try to fight each opponent for thee points. But we have to do so with quality, control our game and ensure that we deserve to get the three points,” said Lazaroni during the pre-match conference on Saturday.

“This game more important for us, simply because it’s against a rival. However until the end we have to fight to get three points in every match,” the Brazilian coach added.

There are five teams within three points of each other and the relegation battle has widened its dreaded reach. Qatar SC have been languishing in the drop zone for quite some time now and this match is a chance for them to move out of it.

“We were under pressure right from the beginning. However now we can see the light at the end of the tunnel. But that’s because we are working hard, giving 100 per cent during training,” said Lazaroni.

“Now five teams are fighting to save themselves from relegation. I hope that we continue to play with inspiration, have good health and try to fight for these three points in every match going forward,” said the 65-year-old.

Khor meanwhile, are coming off three back-to-back losses and will be on the back foot, going into such a crucial match. But Head Coach Jean Fernandez said that he was expecting his players to come back strongly in this match.

“Our players are confident and I expect a good reaction from the team after the three back-to-back losses. We lost against Sadd and Rayyan and that can be accepted this season but what is not acceptable is our loss against Ahli. That result caused a lot of trouble for us. But we are doing everything in order to forget that result and react well in this game,” said Fernandez on Saturday.

“We knew that since the beginning that our season will be difficult. That’s why we are not worried very much,” he added.

The Frenchman also said that Qatar SC’s recent winning spree make them favourites for this match. “Qatar SC are the favourites in this game. Because they are playing at home and because they are coming from three wins. When you get three wins that means that the club has good dynamics. But we will try to play well and stop them,” said Fernandez.
