Al Wakrah coach Ali Rahma Al Marri spoke to the media ahead of their 2023-2024 season Expo Stars League Week 22 match against Al Ahli.

“The match will of course be difficult, like the rest of the league matches, but its result will not change our position in the standings, and we will try to exploit it by involving a number of players who did not participate in the last period, and we tried to prepare the team in the best possible way despite the limited time between the two matches.

“We have many absences in this match, whether due to suspension, such as Dala and Abdulaziz Metwally, or injury, such as Trent Sainsbury and other players. In addition to that, we are considering not including the players who played against Al Gharafa as starters in this match,” said Al Marri.

Al Wakrah player Nasser Al Yazidi said, “We will strive to get the three points in this match so that it will serve as a good motivation for us before competing in the Qatar Cup.

“We were of course affected by the recent loss to Al Gharafa, but we focused on it being an important lesson for us so that we pay attention to the upcoming matches.

“Al Wakrah had a good season in general and it could have been better than it was had it not been for the many adverse circumstances that the team faced. As for me personally, I was hoping to have a better opportunity with the team during the season.”
