Al Rayyan coach Nicolas Cordova spoke to the media ahead of their 2022-2023 season QNB Stars League Week 7 match against Qatar SC.

“It’s a very important match and we aim to score a win. There is a difference between ending this phase with four points or with just the one point that we have now. Our only goal is to stop the series of negative results.

“Qatar SC lost in the last round against a strong Al Duhail team, but they are still a strong and dangerous team. My focus remains on Al Rayyan players and on preparing with the best we have to achieve the desired result.

“The negative results in the previous rounds will not be a reason for us to stop work and diligence. We continue training as best as possible, because the reasons for our losses were not tactical, but rather the errors and some simple details that must be improved upon and worked at to get out of this problem,” said Cordova.

Al Rayyan player Abdurahman Al Harazi said, “There is no difference between one match and another, but after each contest the pressure on us increases as our results have not been good. Yet, our goal remains to provide our best.

“We are not affected by absences in our team because all players available are first-team players and stars. The absences are not an excuse, but we have lacked success since the beginning of the season and the matches we lost have negatively affected us leading to this situation.

“The role of the players is to stand united and not to play for themselves, but for the team as a unit. This is the best thing to get out of this situation now and I consider it normal in football. We shall hopefully overcome this situation.”
