Al Ahli face Umm Salal in Round 3 (Group A) of the 2023-2024 season Ooredoo Cup at the Saoud Bin Abdulrahman Stadium of Al Wakrah club on Sunday, October 15, 2023. The kick-off is at 8pm.

Al Arabi, Qatar SC, Muaither and Al Wakrah are the other teams in Group A.

Both Umm Salal and Al Ahli would strive to achieve a victory and collect the three valuable points given the good results that they have achieved in the recent period, especially Umm Salal, under French coach Patrice Carteron.

In contrast, Al Ahli have had a tough time in the league, where they achieved their first win in Week 5 after losing in the first four rounds.

In the Ooredoo Cup, Al Ahli won in the second round. Incidentally both their wins (in the league and in this tournament) have come against Muaither (4-2 in the league and 2-1 in the Ooredoo Cup). The Brigadiers had lost 1-2 to Qatar SC in Round 1.

Al Ahli are looking forward to progress under the technical leadership of new Portuguese coach Pedro Miguel, who recently replaced Montenegrin Nebojsa Jovovic.

Al Ahli are counting on the good form of their brilliant Tunisian star Naim Sliti, one of the prominent attacking players in their ranks.

Umm Salal are currently leading Group A with six points. Al Arabi are also on the same number of points, but The Orange Fortress are placed ahead on better goal difference (+8 as against Al Arabi’s +3).

Meanwhile, Umm Salal’s victories were against Al Wakrah (5-0 in Round 1) and Qatar SC (3-0 in Round 2).

Al Ahli and Qatar SC are in third and fourth position respectively. Both teams are on three points, but Al Ahli are placed ahead on better goal difference (0 as against Qatar SC’s -2).
