Al Ahli are continuing their preparations for the 2026-2027 season at a training camp in Austria (July 21-August 9) as part of their preparatory programme focusing on the team’s technical and tactical aspects ahead of the start of new season.

The camp in Austria is a continuation of the team’s pre-season programme the team began in Doha earlier this month under the supervision of new Spanish coach Borja Jimenez, who has replaced Younes Ali.

During the camp, Al Ahli played three friendly matches, winning one game, drawing one and losing the other. The Brigadiers defeated Mistelbach FC of Austria 2-0, but drew 3-3 with Al Hilal and lost 0-3 to Al Shabab, both Saudi Arabia sides.

Al Ahli finished the 2025-2026 season Doha Bank Stars League in ninth place with 26 points (eight wins, two draws and 12 defeats). They scored 34 goals while conceding 43.

Despite their league position, the team had a good run in the regional and continental competitions. Al Ahli beat Al Jazira to lift the Challenge Cup in Qatar-UAE Super Cup in Abu Dhabi and also reached the semifinals of AFC Champions League Two.

Al Ahli have bolstered their squad this season with new signings such as French midfielder Benjamin Bourigeaud from Al Duhail, Dutch player Don Oniel, Panama player Yosafer Lenis besides midfielder Luis Martin and attacking winger Suhaib Gannan. They will join the likes of Julian Draxler, Driss Fettouhi, Michel Vlap, Erik Exposito, Othman Al Yahri, Khaled Mohammed, and goalkeepers Yazan Naim and Marwan Sherif.

Al Ahli will start their 2026-2027 Doha Bank Stars League campaign against reigning champions Al Sadd at the Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium on August 22 with aspirations to achieve positive results during the season.
