The Red Knights took the lead on the 21st minute through after Hilal defender Mohammed Jahfali bundled the ball into his net. The second half saw the introduction of new signings Qassem Burhan and Youssef Al Arabi to the side.
However the duo where unable to help their side cement their lead, instead it was Al Hilal who came from behind to take the lead thanks to two goals in two minutes. Brazilian attacker Carlos Eduardo was the first to notch on the 51st minute, before Lekhwiya defender Muhammed Moussa scored an own goal two minutes later, giving Hilal the 2-1 win.
One point of concern for Djamel Belmadi was the injury to Qatari international striker Mohammed Muntari, who limped off in the second half. The clubs medical team will now asses the injury ahead of the side’s final friendly match against Spanish side Eibar.
