The 2013/2014 season saw, Al Gharafa dominating both matches, the first leg tie saw an impressive 6-2 victory for the cheetahs. In the second half of the season Gharafa remained victorious; however they couldn’t hit the heights of the first leg and managed a slender 1-0 win.
The 2014/2015 season both sides exchanged victories, Gharafa won the the first leg 1-0, the only goal scored by Argentine hit-man Lisandro Lopez. The orange fortress grabbed their second half of the season victory in a seven goal thriller. Salal prevailed 4-3 on the night with a hat-trick Ismail Mahmoud and a single goal from Thamer Jamal.
This season, the sides played out a 0-0 draw in the first half of the season.
Overall Gharafa has the upper hand over Umm Salal down the years; the Cheetah’s have prevailed on 6 occasions.
