DOHA: Qatar Stars League (QSL) minnows are set to announce a new coach following their 10-0 debacle against giants Lekhwiya in a round 13 clash last week.

According to club official Manahi Shammari, the 'change is necessary'
considering last week's hammering, the heaviest for the side in QSL history.

Coach Jose Fernando could help the club to only two wins out of 13 matches in the first four months of the QSL season.

"The change was necessary considering the mistakes we have been repeating on the pitch," Shammari told QSL website in an interview.

"The club management and the team's administrative body thought it is time we have somebody to succeed the coach," he added.

"We will not rush to make an announcement. We have candidates in our minds. We will go for the best option. We believe this team has a lot to offier.

"We will return stronger for the second half of the season on January 3," he said. "That's our goal - we want to get back in a strong fashion," he said.

Al Shahaniya take on QSL champions Al Rayyan at Grand Hamad Stadium on January 3.
