QSL side Al Gharafa has continued their busy summer transfer window by announcing the capture of former Al Arabi midfielder Luis Jiménez on a two year deal.
Gharafa unveiled the former Chile international midfielder late on Saturday evening, in the presence of club officials and head coach Jean Fernandez. Jiménez has been handed the number 10 shirt this season, and the move seems to mean that Slovakian winger Vladimir Weiss is set to leave the Cheetahs this season.
Speaking on his move to Gharafa Jiménez revealed it was an easy process switching from Al Arabi. “The negotiations have been very smooth with Al Gharafa, after my contract had been terminated with Al Arabi by mutual consent.”
“I am no stranger to football in Qatar, and I know that Al Gharafa is a strong side. We have the potential to compete this season for trophies and I hope this is the case” added the 33 year old midfielder who scored ten goals last season for Al Arabi.
Jiménez will now join his team-mates for preseason training ahead of the new QSL campaign. Al Gharafa are set for a preseason training camp in Turkey from the 2nd to the 22nd of August.
