The draw for 2019 AFC Champions League was held on Thursday, 22nd November, at the AFC Headquarters in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Representatives of four clubs (Al Duhail, Al Sadd, Al Rayyan and Al Gharafa) from Qatar, which has a prominent place in Asia in terms of professional football, attended the draw ceremony.

Former Qatar international and Al Sadd star Wesam Rizik participated in the ceremony along with other stars from Asia.

Al Duhail and Al Sadd will start their campaign in the group stage, while Al Rayyan and Al Gharafa have to qualify through play-offs.

Al Duhail have been drawn into Group C alongside Al Hilal of Saudi Arabia, Al Ain of the UAE and Esteghlal of Iran.

Al Sadd are in Group D in the company of Iran’s Persepolis, Saudi Arabia’s Al Ahli. Three teams, one each from the UAE, Iraq and Uzbekistan, will vie in the play-off.

If qualified, Al Rayyan will join Group B, which includes the UAE’s Al Wahda, Al Ittihad of Saudi Arabia and Uzbekistan champions Lokomotiv. Al Rayyan will fight with Saipa of Iran and Minerva of India in play-off.

Al Gharafa have the chance to qualify for Group A, which includes Al Wasl of the UAE and Al Zawraa of Iraq. Al Gharafa will vie with Al Wehdat of Jordan, Kuwait SC and Zob Ahan of Iran in play-off.
