The first edition of Negdar (We Can) initiative, launched by the Qatar Stars League (QSL) in partnership with Generation Amazing and Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya), and with the support of Ministry of Public Health, concluded with a closing ceremony held on Wednesday evening (June 4, 2025) at the Lekhwiya center. It was attended by a number of dignitaries, invitees, guests, participants and parents.
At the ceremony, certificates were presented to the participants, supporters and stakeholders who played a prominent role in this edition.
It may be noted that Negdar, which won the ‘Football For All’ Award at the Qatar Football Association 2024-2025 Awards, aims to inspire and motivate children to adopt healthier and more active lifestyles using football as a main tool, and contribute towards reducing the risk of obesity-related diseases. It is also a significant step in Qatar’s commitment to achieve global health goals, in line with the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
On the occasion, Mr. Hassan Rabiah Al Kuwari, Executive Director of Sales, Marketing and Communication at QSL, said, “First, I would like to thank everyone who attended the closing ceremony and also all partners who worked together to achieve the initiative’s goals. We also thank the participating children and their parents for their support and significant role. This initiative falls in line with our commitment towards fulfilling our role in social responsibility and promoting the importance and value of sport by using football as a motivating factor to encourage a healthy lifestyle. I wish everyone success and look forward to the next edition.”
On his part, Mr. Nasser Al Khori, Executive Director of Generation Amazing, stated, “The Negdar initiative reflects our belief that sport has the power to bring about real and long-term change. The behavioral changes we’ve observed, from teamwork and leadership to enhanced confidence, demonstrate that the initiative goes beyond physical fitness. It paves the way for a model that can be replicated in other countries to contribute to advancing the global health agenda.”
Major Khalifa Mohammed Al Kubaisi, Commander of Lekhwiya Sports Centre, expressed his happiness to be part of this initiative that aims to instill the values of health and sports among children. He added that the partnership between Lekhwiya and the country’s sports institutions confirms the drive towards building a better future for our children and that they were committed to support all efforts aimed at promoting physical fitness and a healthy lifestyle, based on their belief that community security begins with caring for the health of community members.”
The Negdar initiative aligns with Qatar’s National Health Strategy, the National strategy to combat diabetes and obesity, and global frameworks such as World Health Organization’s Healthy Cities Initiative and 2024 World Health Assembly resolution on promoting health through sporting events.”
