The Finals of the Workers’ Cup and the Workers’ Shield were held at the Qatar Sports Club on Friday. The 6 week tournament came to an end with a superb atmosphere in the stadium and also witnessed some amazing performances.

 

Workers’ Cup

 Al Asmakh vs Nakheel

Al Asmakh Facilities took on Nakheel Landscapes In the final of the Workers’ Cup. The match kicked off at 7:00pm at the Qatar Sports Club and was attended by thousands of spectators. Nakheel Landscapes ended up 3-0 winners and picked up the Workers’ Cup .

The match had a frantic pace from the kick off as Nakheel scored from a free kick goal early on in the fifth minute. Jacques Baone free kick landed into the near corner as Nakheel went up 1-0. Later on, in the eighteenth minute a goal from Mahamat Mohamoud doubled Nakheel’s advantage.

A third and final goal put the cherry on top for Nakheel as Al Asmakh’s defence had no answer for the fluid play of their opponents. Number 10 Mahamat Aboubakar sensational strike made it 3-0 in the twenty ninth minute after he received the ball in the box and then sent the ball into the net with the outside of his right foot. The second half saw Nakheel protecting their advantage while Al Asmakh pushed forward to no avail.

With the 3-0 victory Nakheel were crowned the 2017 Workers’ Cup Champions. This is the first trophy for the team who also took part in the tournament last year.

Shield Plate Final

The Shield Plate final between DULSCO Qatar and DELTA kicked off at 4:45pm at the Qatar Sports Club. The Shield plate features teams who finished 3rd and fourth in their respective groups.

The first half ended 0-0 with DELTA enjoying most of the ball and the majority of the chances. DELTA forward Umesh Choudary was the stand out player of the half and troubled the DULSCO backline on a number of occasions.

The second half was a different story all together as DULSCO upped the ante and were rewarded with a goal. Iddrisu Amadu scored from the spot as he nestled the ball into the right side of the goal in the forty fifth minute to give his side the lead.

Later on, in stoppage timeLawrence Avet made it 2-0 after driving the ball into the box and smashing the ball into the roof of the net to ensure the  Workers Shield for DULSCO.
