The Wolves star Khalfan Ibrahim Khalfan has been ruled out of the Gulf Cup due to an injury suffered in the warm up to an international friendly with North Korea.<br />

The Qatar Stars League forward was having a season to remember after breaking the all-time Sadd goal scoring record.  The 26 year old sustained a partial tear of his knee ligament and is expected to be out for 3 or 4 weeks.<br />

Khalfan was named the Asian player of the year back in 2006, becoming the first Qatari to hold the accolade.<br />

He originally started at Al Arabi playing in their youth teams before making the move across town to Al Sadd in 2004. With the Wolves, the playmaker has become a club legend and was part of a team that won the 2011 AFC Champions League. <br />

This season Ibrahim has scored 5 goals.
