A brace each by Jugurtha Hamroun and Hassan Al Haydous powered Al Sadd to a 4-0 win over hosts Al Gharafa in Week 14 of the QNB Stars League on Thursday.
Hamroun scored in the 33rd and 45th minutes, while Al Haydous’ goals came in the 73rd and 87th.
Early in the game, Al Gharafa captain Wesley Sneijder found midfielder Diogo Amado inside the rival box, but the latter’s deflection from close range missed the target.
That was followed by a long-ranger by Al Haydous that sailed past the Al Gharafa post.
Around the half-hour mark, Al Sadd’s mercurial midfielder Hamroun, who had also struck a brace in their big win over Al Sailiya in the previous round, broke free of his marker inside the rival box, but his quick-footed shot was spectacularly stopped by goalkeeper Qassim Burhan.
The Algerian broke the deadlock close to the half-time whistle when he calmly deflected in a cross by Al Haydous, who outran Amado.
After Ahmed Alaaeldin shot the ball just wide of the Al Sadd goal off a corner a couple of minutes later, Hamroun scored again, his eighth goal this season, following a cross by Hamed Ismail after Burhan fumbled with a clearance.
Hamroun missed an easy deflection from close range early in the second half.
Later on, it was the turn of Al Haydous to strike twice in a spell of 14 minutes. First, he found the mark off a cross by Hamroun and then came up with a close-range strike as The Wolves completed a dominating show to move to 34 points.
