Al Ahli coach Pedro Miguel spoke to the media ahead of their 2023-2024 season Expo Stars League Week 20 match against Al Markhiya.

“Al Ahli played one of their bad matches in years against Al Shamal in the last round, especially in the first half, but as a coach I believe that this type of match happens to any team and that we must learn from it and benefit from the lesson in order to achieve the best.

“We did not deserve to win and it was natural for us to lose, but that does not mean the end or that this is the true level of Al Ahli. The team has a lot that it did not offer on the field and we will appear in the remaining four matches in the league, the first of which is against Al Markhiya in the next round.

“The match will not be easy. Al Markhiya are a strong team regardless of their position in the standings and we must provide the best technical level in order to win the three points and regain the winning touch. As a coach, I expect a strong and difficult match, and have worked to ensure that Al Ahli are ready,” said Pedro Miguel.

Al Ahli player Mohammed Abdullah Jassim said, “We did not show our level against Al Shamal in the last round and lost the match, but as players we realize the importance of winning all the upcoming matches to end the season in a better position.

“As players, we will face Al Markhiya with one slogan, which is to win and satisfy our fans, especially since they support the team and were not satisfied with the level the team showed in the last match. But the opportunity exists to compensate for it in the next round and continue with positive results in the rest of the matches.”
