The first half was an even encounter with both sides going close but neither side could break the deadlock and they both went into the break goalless.
Lekhwiya’s front man Sebastian Soria finally broke the stalemate on 52 minutes and this was the catalyst as then just 8 minutes later teammate and midfield metronome Karim Bodhiaf added the second.
Sailiya however came back almost immediately courtesy of a penalty spot conversion by Faozi Mubark Ayish (66’).
And that’s how the game ended.
The result puts Lekhwiya in second and just two points behind Al Sadd but the Wolves will play Al Shamal on Wednesday 10th December and could open up a 5 point gap at the top of the table.
Al Sailiya on the other hand stays 9th in the Qatar Stars League.
