Newly crowned QSL Champions Lekhwiy gained a important 2-1 victory over Esteghlal Khouzestan on Monday and leapfrog their opponents into top spot in Group B of the AFC Champions League.
 
Esteghlal Khouzestan raced in front after just nine minutes thanks to a drilled shot from Aloys Nong. The visitors’ advantage did not last long, as South Korean international Nam Tae Hee curled the ball in from distance on the 33^rd minute. By the stroke of half-time, Lekhwiya took the lead as Qatari international Almoez Ali took advantage to bundle home a cross after more fine work by Nam on the left flank.

The result see’s the QSL side head to the top of the table, after inflicting Khouzestan’s first defeat of the AFC Champions League campaign.
