Dutch star Wesley Sneijder will reach Doha on Saturday to sign for Al Gharafa and become the biggest name to join the QNB Stars League during the current winter transfer window, the club announced on Friday.

Sneijder boasts of an impressive CV in his illustrious club as well as country career, and has many achievements to his credit that includes the UEFA Champions League trophy with Inter Milan under eminent Portuguese coach Jose Mourinho.

The attacking midfielder had an illustrious career with a number of big clubs in Europe, such as Ajax Amsterdam, Real Madrid and Galatasaray as well.

The talented 33-year-old, who hails from Utrecht, the Netherlands, is the most-capped (133) Dutch player of all time.

Al Gharafa will announce further details of Sneijder’s contract after he signs for them. Besides helping them improve their seventh place in the second phase of QNB Stars League and fare well in the Qatar Cup and Emir’s Cup, he will have an additional responsibility of supporting The Cheetahs should they qualify for this year’s AFC Champions League. They will face Uzbekistan’s Pakhtakor in the play-off for group stage in Doha on 30th January.

Al Gharafa had recently appointed Turk Bulent Uygun in place of Frenchman Jean Fernandez, who took over them at the start of this season.
