The match of the week between Qatar and Sadd lived up to its top billing with plenty of goals and end to end action. Al Sadd knew that a win would once again see them top of the table and that proved to be the motivating factor which game the game a good level of football throughout the 90 minutes.

The match kicked off at 19:45 at the Suhaim bin Hamad stadium as the Kings took on the wolves.

The first real chance of the game came for the home side – Qatar Sports Club. Al Sadd lost the ball in their own half and Mousa Allaq broke down the right before sending in a pin point cross for goal machine Hamdi Harbaoui. The Tunisian headed powerfully but couldn’t beat the keeper from close range.

Then on the 13th minute the Kings were to regret their previous miss when a ball over the top found Hassan Al Haydoos, the wide man timed his run to perfection, he rounded the keeper and slotted home for the game’s opener.

After the goal the game went through a 15 minute quite spell with neither side threating their opponent’s goal.

Then a challenge for a header stopped play as Harbaoui muscled in on defender Kasola but the replay showed it to be a fair challenge.

Then just before the break on the 42nd minute Sadd’s left back Abdulkarim ran down the wing and sent in a low cross, Tabata latched onto it but couldn’t keep his effort down.

Seconds later Sadd center back Ibrahim Majed Abdullmajed saw the ball land in front of him on the edge of the box. He lined himself up and struck a ferocious shot that hit the bar and bounced out.

And that was it for the first half as the wolves showed their class with a dominant performance.

After the restart Qatar Sports Club had managed to pin Al Sadd in their half but couldn’t find a way through.

However the first real chance came for the visitors when Khalfan chased a ball down the left wing, he then cut back and squared it for Tabata who had his curing effort saved.

In the 68th minute Al Sadd again had a chance to kill the game off when Tabata received a through-ball from Khalfan but the Brazilian effort was tame.

A minute later Al Sadd made it two. Belhadj shaped up to take the corner, he saw keeper Mohammad Mubarak Dawood off his line and no one at the near post, the Algerian showed great accuracy to score from the corner, for what looked like an intentional effort for the goal.

The minutes ticked by as QSC pressured but to no avail as a lack of creative play in the middle of the park was frustrating the kings.

Al Sadd started to lose possession cheaply and on the 81st minute Korean forward Cho had a shot on target but his effort was tame and the keeper simply gathered it up.

QSC finally got a conciliatory goal when right back Shaheen Ali Mahmoud put in Harbdoui for his 9th goal of the season. The Tunisian didn’t even have a chance to look at the goal but instinctively knew where the back of the net was and made no mistake with his thunderous strike in the 85th minute.

Qatar was leaving it late but again they had a good goal scoring opportunity when Halliche Rafik stole away at the far post for a deep cross but he was put off by his teammate Harbaoui.

Then Al Sadd got back their two goal cushion in the final minute of extra time with a lightening counter attack. aKhalfan the goal scorer poked home the third on a night that the wolves deserve red to win.

The result pushes the wolves back to the top of the leader board and Qatar slide down to 6th in the Qatar Stars League.
