Al Rayyan Football Team Manager Mathkar Al Shafi spoke to the QSL website about the upcoming match versus Al Wakra in Round 23 of the QSL to be held at the Al Sadd Stadium on Saturday evening at 16:55. He also reflected on the team’s status following their defeat to Al Gharafa in the previous round.

At the beginning, he stated, “There is no doubt that our match versus Al Wakra won’t be easy at all especially since the opponents are trying to seize any opportunity to survive relegation. We in Al Rayyan respect and appreciate all the teams but we also play for the victory.”

Al Shafi pointed out that Al Rayyan is looking forward to winning all the remaining games, which is a very difficult task in light of the huge challenge and competition between all teams. He added, “The fight for the top four positions is not settled yet and also the relegation zone is not determined as well. This all makes the coming game very tough.”

The defeat Al Rayyan suffered in the previous Round 22 to Al Gharafa by one goal to two keeps the Lions at 44 points.

The football team manager continued, “We seek to maintain our current position in the QSL standing table since our mission to compete for the tile has become very difficult, Al Rayyan is capable of overcoming all challenges.”

He concluded, “The QSL is very tough this season just as the previous season when we won the title. However, Al Rayyan in the previous season broke all the records and achieved lots of wins to settle the title weeks before the end.”
