Al Shahania took on Al Gharafa at home in the other early kick-off tonight as the Oryxes looked for their sixth win of the season.

Al Gharafa who were in sixth spot before the game knew this was a must win if they held any hopes of finishing in the top four by the end of the season.

It was the visitors Gharafa who took the lead when new Romanian forward Claudiu Keserü got on the score sheet in the 22nd minute, and that’s how it stayed until the half time whistle was blown.

In the second half Keserü struck again this time assisted by teammate Christian Bolaños, the Romanian striking from just 5 yards out to give his side a two goal cushion (52’).

However Shahania then mustered another comeback as they scored first through striker Luciano Vazquez (79’) and then Abdullah Khaled scored just one minute later courtesy of a sloppy goal keeping error.

Gharafa managed to find their composure and ride out the Shahania storm as they then settled matter when Moayed Hassan scored with just 8 minutes of normal time remaining.

Shahania deserved something from the game and will be heartbroken as they did well to keep pace with Al Gharafa.

The cheetahs survived the late scare and now find themselves in 5th place with 33 points in the Qatar Stars League.
