Umm Salal have announced the mutual termination of Egyptian international defender Ahmed Fathi's contract. The announcement came on Monday night from the club's official Twitter account. The club moved quickly to replace Fathi by signing defender Welinton Souza, from Brazilian club Flamenco on a one year contract. 

In other news, Umm Salal have announced a friendly match with fellow Qatar Stars League side Al Gharafa. The match is set to kick off at 7:00pm on Wednesday evening at the Thani Bin Jassim, home of Al Gharafa.

Umm Salal are then set to travel to their preseason training camp in the Netherlands on the 2nd of August, as part of their preparations for the new season they will face fellow Qatar Stars League side Al Rayyan. The Qatar Stars league season starts on the 11th of September.
