Al Sailiya defeated Al Arabi 3-1 in Round 6 (Group B) of the 2021-2022 season Ooredoo Cup match on Sunday at Saoud Bin Abdulrahman Stadium.

 

The win raised Al Sailiya’s points tally to 8 (two wins, two draws and one loss). On the other hand, Al Arabi's points tally remained at 6 points - from one win, three draws and one loss.

 

Al Sailiya’s win was powered on Sunday by a brilliant hat-trick by Mishaal Al Shammari in the 38th, 54th and 76th minutes. On the other hand, Abdel Qader Elias scored the only goal for Al Arabi in the third minute of stoppage time in the second half.

 

Both teams played equally well in the first half, but Al Sailiya eventually broke the deadlock by striking in the 38th minute through Al Shammari as they took the lead at the end of the first half.

 

Al Arabi entered the second half with great enthusiasm and the team coach Younis Ali made several changes by bringing in Farshid Ismaili, Abdullah Marafi and Abdulaziz Al Ansari to strengthen their attack.

 

Al Sailiya managed to maintain their offense, and succeeded in doubling the lead in the 54th minute, with Al Shammari scoring again.

 

Al Sailiya continued their great balance between defense and attack despite Al Arabi's attempts to reduce the gap.

 

Al Arabi pressed in the last minutes, and Al Sailiya relied on the counter-attack. Al Shammari completed his hat-trick making it 3-0 for Al Sailiya in the 76th minute.

 

In the third minute of stoppage time, substitute Abdelkader Elias succeeded in reducing the gap by scoring the only goal for Al Arabi in the match but it made no change to the outcome of the match as Al Sailiya claimed full points in Round 6.
