Rivalry of fans to the fore!
It is going to be a battle between the fans as much as it is between the players. The Al Sadd Stadium will surely witness a battle on and off the field when Al Rayyan and Al Arabi clash against each other in Week 20 of the QNB Stars League on Friday, 9th March. The kick-off is at 20:10.
It is going to be a keen contest — tactically, technically and physically — even though there is a huge difference between the teams in standings. Al Rayyan are third with 39 points, while Al Arabi are ninth with 18 points.
Al Rayyan had won 4-2 in the first phase, but Al Arabi will definitely look to punch way above their weight as they are not entirely out of the danger zone.
On their part, The Lions have ensured they would finish at least third in the standings, whereas Al Arabi will be seeking an improvement in their position as nine more points are up for grabs.
Above all, these are the two teams with the most passionate, spirited and loyal fans in Qatar football.
The fan factor adds more excitement to the encounter as both sides will be cheered on by die-hard supporters.
There is no doubt that fans have always been greatly supportive of both Al Rayyan and Al Arabi, and it was no different this season.
If one goes by precise cases, Al Rayyan benefited much from their support as they beat Al Sadd in the first-phase Qatar Clasico.
On the other hand, Al Arabi gained from their large presence at the venue while registering victories against Al Kharaitiyat and Al Markhiya in the last two rounds.
Many Qatari players, who came up through Al Arabi’s age-group system, such as Khalfan Ibrahim and Hamed Ismail, had come back to their fold from various teams this season. They have been showing high team spirit and that should further motivate their fans.
The big question is whose fans will have the last laugh at the final whistle?
