QNB Stars League Week 2 Preview

The 2019-20 season QNB Stars League Week 2 fixtures will witness two matches each being played on Thursday, 29th August, Friday, 30th August, and Saturday, 31st August.

The fixtures are Al Wakrah vs Qatar SC (17:10, Al Sadd Stadium) and Al Duhail vs Al Arabi (19:20, Al Janoub Stadium) on Thursday, Al Khor vs Umm Salal (17:10, Al Janoub Stadium) and Al Rayyan vs Al Gharafa (19:20, Al Sadd Stadium) on Friday and Al Ahli vs Al Sailiya (17:10, Al Janoub Stadium) and Al Shahania vs Al Sadd (19:20, Al Sadd Stadium) on    Saturday.

All matches in the first five weeks this season will be played only at the Al Sadd and newly-opened Al Janoub Stadiums, which have cooling technology.

Promoted side Al Wakrah and Qatar SC will open the week’s fixtures, with both targeting victory as they had lost in the first round.

Al Wakrah had lost 1-4 to Al Sadd and will be eager to make an impression in the top flight. On the other hand, Qatar SC had given a mighty scare to strong title contenders Al Duhail before conceding two late goals.

Next up are Al Duhail and Al Arabi.

Al Duhail are keen to regain the league shield and get their campaign back on track, having lost the season-opening Sheikh Jassim Cup and exited from the AFC Champions League in the Round of 16 stage, both against Al Sadd.

Al Arabi too will be eager to continue their winning run, as they had beaten Al Ahli 3-1 in Week 1.

Al Khor and Umm Salal had both drawn their first-round games, against Al Sailiya and Al Rayyan respectively. Both were creditable results as Al Sailiya had finished third last season and Al Rayyan fourth.

Al Rayyan will not seek nothing less than three points when they face Al Gharafa, who had beaten Al Shahania 3-0.

Similarly, Al Ahli and Al Sailiya will fight for full points when they face off in Saturday’s first encounter.

Al Shahania run into reigning champions Al Sadd in the week’s last fixture.
