QNB Stars League Week 14 — Al Arabi 2 Al Kharaitiyat 1


Al Arabi got back to winning ways after beating Al Kharaitiyat 2-1 in Week 14 of the QNB Stars League on Saturday.

Ahmed Ibrahim (43rd minute) and Mohammed Salah El Neel (49th) scored the goals for Al Arabi.

Valentin Lazar pulled one back for Al Kharaitiyat in the 55th minute.

It was Al Arabi’s sixth victory. Tunisian coach Hatem Al Moaddeb’s men took their points tally to 18, while Al Kharaitiyat stayed on three points from the victory they registered against Al Gharafa.

The Thunders are precariously placed at the bottom of league standings and face relegation.

Al Kharaitiyat had the numerical advantage of playing with 10 men for most part of the game after Majed Aman was given his marching orders in the 42nd minute.

Both teams fought it out in their bid to gain advantage.

Al Kharaitiyat put up a gritty show. In fact they enjoyed more ball possession in the first half (53 per cent) although it was 50-50 at the end of the game.

Ahmed Ibrahim opened the scoring via a header off a free-kick from Tareq Hamad.

Brazilian Diego Jardel, who held the Al Arabi midfield together, gave the assist for their second goal scored by El Neel.  

Algerian midfielder Jugurtha Hamroun was the livewire among the Al Kharaitiyat ranks. He set the stage for their goal netted by Valentin.

Al Arabi defeated Al Kharaitiyat 1-0 in the first leg.
