QNB Stars League Round 4 preview

Exciting encounters in the offing

The QNB Stars League is all set to resume following a fortnight-long break enforced by FIFA’s calendar of international matches. Round 4 fixtures are scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, 14th and 15th October. The games are expected to be tough and exciting as they were in the previous rounds.

Saturday’s three matches will be Al Gharafa Vs Al Khor and Umm Salal Vs Al Arabi, both at the Al Gharafa Stadium, and Al Sailiya Vs Al Kharaitiyat at the Al Ahli Stadium.

On Sunday, Al Rayyan will be up against Al Markhiya and Al Sadd against Qatar SC, both at the Al Sadd Stadium, while Al Duhail play host to Al Ahli.

That all teams are trying to gain maximum points and go all out will make the clashes more thrilling.

In pursuit of lead

Both Al Duhail and Al Sadd will target the top position in standings as they also seek a fourth consecutive victory. Al Duhail are currently atop the table on goal difference.

Umm Salal will be looking to close in on the top two and stay in the top four by prevailing over Al Arabi. Al Sailiyah will also be keen to be among the first quartet of  teams when they take the field against Al Kharaitiyat.

The other matches too will not be devoid of excitement. Al Rayyan will try to compensate for their loss in Round 3 to Al Duhail when they face Al Markhiya, who eye a strong comeback into the tournament.

Al Gharafa are seeking their first win in the league this season whereas Al Arabi are trying to build on their win over Qatar SC in the previous round.

Repeat matches

Three games will be a repeat of recent clashes in the QSL Cup, held during the two-week break. Al Gharafa and Al Khor had played in Group A, with the former winning 2-1.

Umm Salal and Al Arabi had played out a 1-1 draw in Group B after Al Kharaitiyat beat Al Sailiya 3-1, again in Group A.

It was a welcome sign that most of the teams gave chances to youngsters as well as junior players in the first two rounds of QSL Cup. However, the premier league is a different matter altogether and that will make the fixtures more interesting to watch.
