Qatar SC… Languishing at 10th place after inconsistent performances

Qatar SC made a strong start to the 2018-19 season QNB Stars League by shocking Al Gharafa 3-1. However, they have had a downward slide since then.

Qatar SC are currently languishing at the 10th place with 15 points after 15 rounds of action before the QNB Stars League was stopped. The tournament will resume after the Asian Cup in the UAE (5th January to 1st February).

The Kings have four wins and three draws to their credit, while they lost eight matches. Their goal difference is -9 (14 goals for and 23 against).

The points difference between Qatar SC and three other teams (Al Gharafa 18, Umm Salal 17 and Al Shahania 16) is not much. Yet, they will have to pull up their socks in the remaining seven fixtures if they are to finish in a creditable position.

Qatar SC had revamped the squad at the beginning of this season. Cameroon and Barcelona great Samuel Eto’o was hired after the first few rounds of competition. Iraqi Hussein Ali and Brazilian Sandro Ferreira had already joined the squad.

They had recruited Rami Fayez and Ahmed Moein last season.

The team saw many changes at the technical staff level. Qatari coach Abdullah Mubarak continued to guide the side at the start of the season. After the first few rounds, he was temporarily replaced by Yousef Al Noobi before Argentinian Sergio Batista took charge.

Before the long break in the QNB Stars League, Qatar SC had beaten Al Sailiya 1-0 and held reigning champions Al Duhail 1-1. They must continue to do well if they have to climb up the ladder.
