Qatar Cup 2017- The Big Interview- Yusef Msakni

Lekhwiya’s Tunisian international Yusef Msakni if confident that his side can take their championship winning form into the Qatar Cup when Lekhwiya take on El Jaish in the semi-final which is set to take place on Friday the 21st of April at Al Sadd stadium.

Opening up the interview Msakni insisted the tie on Friday will be a challenge for his side. “It’s going to be a tough and exciting confrontation as always in our matches against El Jaish. It’s not going to be easy but we have the determination and the desire to win. It will be difficult match for both sides  but i believe Lekhwiya have enough for the win.”

“Football is all about the performance on the pitch. Being the favourites alone is not enough. We will enter the match with fully concentrated and ready to progress to the final” added the Tunisian playmaker when responding to the claim of being favourites for the Qatar Cup.

Lekhwiya lifted their fifth ever QSL title only a week ago, and Msakni believes that could be decisive in the race for the Qatar Cup. “We are full of confidence going into the semi-final, we have beaten Jaish in the league and that will aid us. Lekhwiya always goes into any competition looking to lift the trophy.”

“The Qatar Cup is totally different  from the league as you only have two games to determine the winner. We have to be at full concentration if we are to lift this trophy again” noted the Tunisian international.

Turning his attention to Lekhwiya’s Friday evening opponents Msakni stressed that El Jaish have plenty to trouble their rivals. “El Jaish has plenty of quality in their squad. Only last season they played in the semi-final of the AFC Champions League. They will be motivated to win the Qatar Cup for the third time.”

“I am currently returning to training, and I hope that the coach will pick me to take part in the Qatar Cup and aid the team in the next few weeks” admitted Msanki who has missed the last two games with a injury.

Msakni ended the interview stressing that the Red Knights are capable of winning all three domestic trophies on offer. “We have a good chance of the treble this season, we have already won the league. Now it’s time to focus on the Qatar Cup and after this, who knows.”
